Gender Based Violence (GBV) Case Worker – National Position

Malteser International (MI) has been working in Nigeria since 2017. In Northeast Nigeria (Borno, Taraba, and Adamawa States), MI is currently active in the WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Protection, and Food, Nutrition Security and Livelihoods (FNSL) sectors, aiming to save lives and improve the well-being of both internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities. WASH activities focus on improving access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene through activities such as non-food-item-distribution, solarizing boreholes, rehabilitating hand pumps, constructing latrines, and promoting hygiene practices. Protection activities target the prevention of and response to gender-based violence (GBV). FNSL interventions include micro-gardening, rearing pullets for egg production, composting, food demonstrations, referrals of malnutrition cases to nutrition partners, and community sensitization on nutrition. MI applies a participatory, gender-sensitive, and inclusive approach.

For our work in Maiduguri, Jere, and Konduga, Borno State, Nigeria, Malteser International is seeking a GBV Case Worker – National Position.

Under the direct supervision of the Area Coordinator, the GBV Case Worker is responsible for planning, implementing, and providing quality case management to GBV survivors of the Malteser Program in Borno state, Nigeria. Within the responsibilities, the GBV Case Worker will need to ensure compliance with Malteser International’s and donor administrative, financial, safety and security and logistic procedures in the work

The role ensures quality, accountability, compliance, and evidence‑based learning in line with the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) standards.

Location: Borno

Your responsibilities:

Deliver survivor-centred GBV case management, including assessment, action planning, referrals, follow-up, documentation, and case closure in line with SOPs and GBV standards.
Maintain accurate and confidential case records using GBVIMS, ensuring timely documentation, data analysis, and secure information management.
Coordinate referrals and liaise with government, UN agencies, NGOs, and other partners to ensure survivors access appropriate multi-sectoral services.
Lead and manage activities in women’s and girls’ safe spaces, ensuring survivor-centred approaches, guiding principles, PSEA, safeguarding, and ethical compliance.
Supervise, support, and build the capacity of community volunteers through training, regular meetings, case conferences, and ongoing feedback mechanisms.
Plan and coordinate GBV trainings and outreach activities, including identifying logistical and material needs and organizing training sessions.
Prepare and submit regular reports, escalate implementation challenges promptly, and promote staff well-being and self-care.

Your profile:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in any field of study, with 2 to 5 years of experience in GBV Case Management, and Primero (GBVIMS+)
Ability to communicate effectively in Kanuri, Hausa, and English.
Candidate must be computer literate
