Lafiya is seeking to recruit a Security Risk Manager to strengthen the safety and security framework supporting its operations across Nigeria, particularly in Abuja and field locations where community-based healthcare delivery takes place.
The position is a full-time, permanent role based in Abuja, Nigeria, reporting directly to the Operations Manager. The role offers a gross monthly compensation of USD 1,165 alongside additional benefits, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to attracting experienced professionals capable of managing complex operational risk environments.
The Security Risk Manager will serve as the organisation’s in-house security focal point, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Lafiya’s Security Management Plan (SMP). This includes conducting regular Security Risk Assessments, updating operational safety protocols, and ensuring that all staff, including field-based personnel such as Lafiya Sisters, operate within a secure and well-managed environment.
A core aspect of the role involves ensuring compliance with international safety frameworks and ethical standards, including the UN Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR), Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) policies, and safeguarding frameworks such as Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA). The role also requires integrating a “Do No Harm” approach into all security operations and field activities.
In addition to internal safety management, the Security Risk Manager will oversee security standards across third-party service providers. This includes auditing transport companies, ride-hailing services, warehouses, hotels, and aviation partners to ensure they meet Lafiya’s duty-of-care requirements. The role also involves coordinating closely with logistics teams to ensure safe movement of personnel and commodities across operational areas.
The position further requires the development of an intelligence-driven security system. The successful candidate will collect, analyse, and disseminate timely threat intelligence using communication platforms such as Slack, WhatsApp, and SMS. They will also be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with local security agencies, government stakeholders, and international security networks to ensure up-to-date situational awareness.
The role demands strong leadership in incident management, including investigations into security breaches, documentation of witness statements, and maintenance of secure reporting systems. The Security Risk Manager is also expected to develop and deliver security training for staff and partners, particularly on safe travel routes and operational risk mitigation.
Applicants are expected to hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least six years of experience in security operations, risk management, or logistics-related security functions, preferably within Northern Nigeria or comparable contexts. Fluency in English and Hausa is required, alongside strong knowledge of regional security dynamics.
