PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Reaching Out-of-School Children (ROOSC) Project is a critical initiative dedicated to enhancing access to inclusive and equitable quality primary education for marginalized and out-of-school children throughout Kaduna State. A cornerstone of this project is its emphasis on robust community engagement, accountability to affected populations, and responsiveness to the feedback and concerns of children, caregivers, and community members.
To strengthen these community-based Feedback and Reporting Mechanisms (FRMs), the project requires the deployment of dedicated Field Assistants across all 23 target LGAs. These personnel will be instrumental in operationalizing accountability systems, ensuring that feedback from affected populations is collected, documented, and acted upon in a timely, safe, and confidential manner.
SCOPE OF WORK & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit qualified Accountability Field Assistants to support community-based accountability initiatives across the ROOSC implementing LGAs. The responsibilities of a Field Assistant will include:
• Feedback & Complaint Management: Ensure effective monitoring, documentation, and referral of feedback and complaints received from both children and adults within the communities.
• Awareness & Sensitization: Facilitate community-level awareness sessions on the utilization of FRM tools and accountability mechanisms.
• Information Dissemination: Share relevant project information with children and the wider community regarding our programming and activities.
• Mechanism Implementation: Sensitize local government areas and communities on the implementation and importance of the accountability mechanism.
• Data Collection & Interpretation: Gather feedback, accurately interpret written inputs, and meticulously document them in a database.
• Reporting: Draft clear and concise reports detailing activities carried out, challenges encountered, and outcomes achieved.
• Monitoring: Conduct routine monitoring of learning centers to ensure program quality and adherence to standards.
• Translation: Translate feedback from community feedback boxes and from local languages into English for wider dissemination and analysis.
• Beneficiary Support: Receive and respond to beneficiary complaints under the direct supervision and guidance of MEAL Coordinators/Officers.
• Additional Tasks: Undertake any other assigned tasks as may be necessary for project success.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND ATTRIBUTES
Essential:
• Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience: At least 1-2 years of proven experience in community-based programming or field data collection.
• Local Context: Deep familiarity with the local context, culture, and primary language(s) of the target LGAs in Kaduna State.
• Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills. Basic proficiency in smartphone or tablet-based data collection.
• Attitude: Willingness to travel frequently to remote and challenging areas.
Added Advantage:
• Knowledge of child safeguarding/protection principles.
• Experience in education or acco
untability programming.
