Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) is recruiting for a Finance Assistant role, offering an opportunity for detail-oriented professionals to contribute to financial operations within a humanitarian setting. This position focuses on treasury management, accounting support, and proper financial documentation in line with organizational and donor requirements.
The Finance Assistant will be responsible for managing the cashbox and ensuring the safe custody of all cash transactions. This includes processing receipts and invoices for cash payments, conducting daily physical cash counts alongside the Finance Officer, and ensuring timely payment of daily workers. The role also involves preparing and monitoring cash advances and payouts in accordance with established procedures, while maintaining strict confidentiality and security of financial information.
In terms of finance and accounting functions, the selected candidate will verify that all invoices comply with PUI’s internal regulations before recording transactions. They will be tasked with accurately entering daily cash expenses into Excel-based accounting systems, ensuring that all required details—such as dates, accounting codes, and budget allocations—are properly documented. Additionally, the Finance Assistant will issue voucher numbers, organize supporting documents, and maintain well-structured financial records in compliance with donor guidelines. The role also includes supporting audit processes by preparing documentation for external audit visits.
A key aspect of this position is effective records management. The Finance Assistant will oversee both electronic and physical archiving of financial documents at the base level, ensuring proper filing and timely sharing of scanned records with the Abuja office. Maintaining organized and accessible financial records is essential for accountability and transparency.
This role requires a high level of accuracy, integrity, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work within structured financial systems in a fast-paced humanitarian environment.
