Two Research Assistant Positions in Kano
Nomawelt Agriconsult Limited is inviting applications from highly motivated and analytically capable candidates for two full-time, in-person Research Assistant positions in Kano, Nigeria.
The successful candidates will join the company’s agricultural research and consulting team and initially support a major research programme focused on biofortified agricultural value chains, agricultural innovation and scaling, food systems, markets and consumer behaviour in Nigeria.
The Research Assistants will also contribute to other agricultural research, agribusiness, food systems, policy and development consulting assignments undertaken by the company.
Available Positions
1. Research Assistant, Quantitative Research and Econometrics
This position is suitable for candidates with strong interests and skills in:
Quantitative research
Data cleaning and management
Econometrics and statistics
Survey research
Stata and/or R
Data visualisation
Reproducible research workflows
Experience with treatment-effect models, structural equation modelling, discrete choice analysis, GIS, network analysis, Python or advanced econometrics will be an added advantage.
2. Research Assistant, Value Chains, Markets and Mixed Methods
This position is suitable for candidates with experience or strong interest in:
Agricultural value chains
Market and institutional research
Literature and evidence synthesis
Mixed-methods research
Key informant interviews and focus group discussions
Stakeholder engagement
Technical writing
Qualitative data analysis
Experience with agribusiness, food systems, consumer research, NVivo, ATLAS.ti, KoboToolbox, ODK or related research tools will be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Both Research Assistants will support:
Literature reviews and evidence synthesis
Administrative and survey data preparation
Development of research instruments
Sampling and fieldwork preparation
Quantitative and qualitative data collection
Data cleaning, coding and analysis
Agricultural value-chain and market analysis
Stakeholder mapping and engagement
Research reports and policy briefs
Preparation of presentations and research manuscripts
Proposal development and consulting assignments
Other relevant research, analytical and consulting activities as assigned by the Lead Partner
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a good Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Statistics, Agribusiness, Development Studies, Agricultural Extension, Data Science or a closely related discipline.
A Master’s degree or demonstrated advanced research capability will be an advantage but is not mandatory.

Appointment Details
Number of Positions: 2
Location: Kano, Nigeria
Work Arrangement: Full-time, in-person
Duration: 12 months, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and organisational requirements
Expected Start: September 2026
Remuneration: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and demonstrated capability
Approved official field travel will be supported separately in accordance with company policy.
