The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture invites applications from qualified Nigerian nationals for the position of Facility and Store Assistant at its station in **Kano, Nigeria. This position is offered on a two year renewable contract. It provides an opportunity to work in a well structured international research environment.
The successful candidate will support the effective management of fuel and other store items within the station. Responsibilities include receiving fuel and other materials delivered to the store. Additionally, the candidate will ensure that fuel receipts are measured using a flow meter to confirm the correct quantity and quality. The role will also involve issuing fuel and other store items to institute vehicles and generators. This is done strictly based on approved fuel slips and duly authorized store request vouchers.
The Facility and Store Assistant will maintain accurate and up to date records for all stored items and prepare monthly usage reports to support internal charge back processes. The position requires timely requests for replenishment of stock items to prevent depletion. This helps support smooth operations. Additional responsibilities include assisting with asset listing activities and ensuring that asset records are properly maintained and updated. The role may also include other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Applicants must possess a BSc or HND in Business Administration, Purchasing and Supply, Accounting, or a related field. At least two years of relevant experience in a similar role within a structured organization is required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong record keeping skills, knowledge of store management practices, and the ability to inspect incoming deliveries for discrepancies or damage. Competence in inventory audits, coordination of warehousing activities, effective communication, and computer literacy are also required.
