Call for Seed Grant Applications 2026 – Nigeria & Sierra Leone (Women Environmental Programme – WEP)

The Women Environmental Programme (WEP) invites applications from eligible women-led and women’s rights organizations in Nigeria and Sierra Leone for the WomenPower2030 Seed Grant 2026.

This initiative is part of the WomenPower2030: Feminist Accelerate Actions for Sustainable Development project, which aims to strengthen the rights, leadership, and influence of women, girls, and marginalized groups in advancing gender-just climate action and sustainable development.

The project is implemented under a Financial Framework Partnership Agreement (FFPA) between the European Union and a consortium led by Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF), alongside partners including WEP, FEMNET, APWLD, and FEIM.

Grant Focus Areas

Applicants are expected to design and implement initiatives aligned with one or more of the following priority areas:

  • Policy monitoring and engagement with policymakers
  • Educational and awareness initiatives on gender and sustainable development
  • Movement building and feminist organizing
  • Demonstration of equitable and sustainable solutions/services
  • Gender-specific training and women’s leadership development
  • Tracking SDG and climate policies and budgets
  • Social media and mainstream media advocacy campaigns

Note: Projects focused solely on awareness campaigns or workshops will not be considered. Priority will be given to initiatives that influence policies, promote sustainable solutions, and advance gender-responsive budgeting.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, organizations must:

  • Be women-led or women’s rights organizations
  • Have at least 70% women in leadership/management roles
  • Be affiliated with the Gender Advocacy Movement for the Environment (GAME) or similar networks
  • Be based in Nigeria or Sierra Leone
  • Have no record of fraud or criminal activity
  • Demonstrate capacity to successfully implement projects

Grant Details

  • Project Duration: 3 to 6 months
  • Maximum Grant Amount: €5,000
  • Application Language: English

Application Requirements

Interested organizations must submit:

  • Completed application form (Word format)
  • Detailed budget (Excel format)
  • Certificate of registration
  • Letter of reference
  • Track record of past activities (compiled into a single document)

Applications must not exceed 10 pages (excluding attachments).
