NATIONAL YOUTH CONFERENCE 2026

The Federal Government of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will convene the National Youth Conference 2026, providing a national platform for young Nigerians to contribute directly to conversations, policies and solutions shaping the country’s future.

The conference is designed to move youth engagement beyond consultation to meaningful participation in national development.

The initiative will bring together young Nigerians from across the country and the diaspora to identify challenges, propose practical solutions and develop actionable recommendations for government and relevant institutions.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The nationwide virtual consultation will be open to Nigerians aged 18–35, including young Nigerians in the diaspora.

Young Nigerians will also have the opportunity to submit memoranda, ideas and policy proposals through a dedicated online platform.

CONFERENCE STRUCTURE

The 2-week programme will begin with a nationwide virtual consultation.

The second week will feature the physical National Youth Conference in Abuja, bringing together:

360 youth delegates representing Nigeria’s federal constituencies

6 diaspora delegates

Stakeholders and observers

The conference will feature expert panels, policy laboratories, an innovation showcase, networking sessions and structured deliberations.

The process will culminate in actionable recommendations to be presented to the President and relevant institutions.

DELEGATE SELECTION

Selection will be conducted through an open and transparent process, with emphasis on:

Merit

Grassroots representation

Gender balance

Regional inclusion

Participation of persons with disabilities

Representation of marginalised groups

The process will also ensure that young women, persons with disabilities, marginalised communities and Nigerians in the diaspora have meaningful representation.

BEYOND THE CONFERENCE

The National Youth Confab will continue beyond the Abuja event.

A Multi-Stakeholder Youth Confab Taskforce, Youth Confab Impact Index, sustained youth policy dialogues and a youth-led monitoring and accountability framework will support implementation, track progress on adopted recommendations and sustain engagement between young Nigerians and decision-makers.

The Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, is calling on young Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to take ownership of the process by participating in consultations, submitting ideas and proposals, and contributing constructively to discussions about Nigeria’s future.
