Malaria Consortium Nigeria is inviting applications for the role of Data Collectors to support a critical malaria research study in Sokoto State.

As a leading organization dedicated to reducing malaria cases and deaths in Nigeria, Malaria Consortium works closely with the Ministry of Health and partners to implement key malaria control programs such as SuNMaP, NetWorks, and MAPS.

🎯 Purpose of the Assignment

The role supports a retrospective case–control study aimed at evaluating how Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) uptake affects the risk of severe malaria among children aged 3–59 months in Northern Nigeria.

The assignment involves:

  • Extracting clinical and demographic data from hospital records
  • Collecting caregiver-reported data to validate SMC uptake and awareness
  • Ensuring accuracy, completeness, and reliability of collected data

This research will contribute to improving malaria prevention strategies and strengthening SMC program delivery across the region.

🧩 Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in all required trainings and review study tools/SOPs
  • Access hospital records to identify eligible cases and controls
  • Extract anonymized clinical data accurately
  • Trace caregivers, obtain informed consent, and conduct interviews
  • Complete electronic data collection forms (ODK/KoboCollect)
  • Perform daily data quality checks and upload data securely
  • Participate in daily debrief sessions and report challenges
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical standards

🎓 Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Records, Social Sciences, or related field
  • 1–2 years experience in field data collection or health research
  • Proficiency in digital data tools (ODK, KoboCollect)
  • Strong communication skills (English and local language, especially Hausa)
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow protocols
  • Familiarity with the local terrain and culture
  • Must own a functional Android phone with internet access
  • Must not be a government employee at any level
