iHatch Nationwide Incubation Programme Cohort 5
The National Information Technology Development Agency, through its Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation (ONDI), has officially opened applications for the iHatch Nationwide Incubation Programme Cohort 5—one of Nigeria’s most ambitious and inclusive startup development initiatives.
iHatch stands out as Nigeria’s first truly nationwide incubation programme, operating across all 36 states and the FCT through a decentralised, hub-first model. Unlike traditional programmes that focus solely on startups, iHatch adopts a dual-track approach by also strengthening innovation hubs, equipping them to become long-term engines of entrepreneurial growth within their regions. This ensures that startups benefit from sustained mentorship, resources, and ecosystem support even after the programme ends.
Applications for startups are open from May 6 to May 27, 2026, and early-stage founders across Nigeria are encouraged to apply. The programme is particularly suited for innovators looking to transform ideas into viable businesses or scale existing solutions.
The iHatch programme runs for a total duration of 10 months, divided into two key phases. The first five months focus on training and certifying innovation hubs, including assessments and tiered rankings. This is followed by five months of intensive startup incubation, where selected startups receive support in MVP development, legal incorporation, market validation, and sector-specific training.
Participants will also benefit from expert mentorship, continuous monitoring, and access to experienced coaches within their local hubs. The programme culminates in regional and national demo days, where startups can showcase their solutions to investors and stakeholders, opening doors to funding and partnerships.
Since its inception, iHatch has demonstrated significant impact across Nigeria. The programme has supported over 200 startups, trained 37 innovation hubs, facilitated the creation of more than 1,000 direct jobs, and helped develop over 100 market-ready minimum viable products (MVPs). These achievements highlight its role in driving innovation, job creation, and economic growth across diverse regions.
Cohort 5 promises even greater impact, with enhanced monitoring systems, improved collaboration across hubs, and more targeted, sector-focused support to deepen outcomes for participating startups.
This is a valuable opportunity for founders seeking equity-free support, access to funding opportunities, and both local and international market exposure.
