JOB SUMMARY
The Plant Manager will lead the day-to-day operations of the rice milling plant in Kano State.
The successful candidate will oversee production planning, manufacturing processes, plant operations, staff performance, equipment management and workflow while ensuring that safety, quality and efficiency targets are consistently achieved.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee daily rice mill and plant operations.
Develop and optimise production schedules.
Supervise production staff and manage workflow.
Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance activities.
Ensure efficient utilisation of raw materials and other production resources.
Manage inventory and raw material requirements.
Troubleshoot operational and production challenges.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and efficiency.
Enforce health, safety and regulatory standards across the plant.
Monitor product quality and ensure production standards are maintained.
Coordinate with farm, logistics and quality teams to support timely delivery of finished products.
Identify operational risks and implement appropriate corrective measures.
Drive strong performance across the rice processing and supply chain operations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Engineering, Production Management, Operations Management, Food Science, Agricultural Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience working in a rice factory or rice mill is required for candidates applying specifically for the advertised rice milling opportunity.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in plant operations, manufacturing, production, agro-processing, FMCG or a related industry is preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a managerial or senior supervisory position.
Strong knowledge of rice milling, food processing or agro-processing operations.
Experience managing production processes, plant equipment and operational workflows.
Strong understanding of quality, safety and efficiency improvement.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to manage teams and coordinate effectively with different departments.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
