Action Against Hunger Nigeria is recruiting Field Monitors to support its Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning and Programme teams in supervising data collection and monitoring project activities.
The Field Monitors will supervise registration, beneficiary verification, household surveys and other qualitative and quantitative data collection activities across supported locations.

PROPOSED START DATE: September 2026
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise field data collection teams and enumerators.
- Support routine monitoring of project activities across assigned sites.
- Conduct routine supervision and spot checks of enumerators’ daily activities.
- Ensure accuracy and quality of data collected by field teams.
- Locate and validate respondents before questionnaires are administered.
- Provide technical support to enumerators using paper or mobile data collection tools.
- Coordinate enumerator movements to achieve required respondent targets according to schedule.
- Ensure approved data collection methodologies are properly followed.
- Ensure appropriate handling and use of data collection devices.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection when required.
- Conduct mobile or paper-based data collection depending on the activity.
- Transcribe and take notes from telephone interviews where required.
- Ask questions clearly and respectfully while following approved questionnaires exactly as worded.
- Provide live translation of data collection tools.
- Interpret interviews and findings into English when required.
- Accurately record and transcribe respondents’ answers.
- Probe appropriately to clarify unclear responses.
- Adhere to survey methodologies and procedures provided during ACF training.
ACCOUNTABILITY RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Monitors will also:
- Support implementation of Accountability frameworks across ACF-supported locations.
- Monitor field activities and help ensure that assistance and beneficiary entitlements reach the intended beneficiaries according to project design.
- Report beneficiary complaints and concerns to the appropriate accountability unit.
- Provide feedback and complaint forms to stakeholders when required.
- Provide daily feedback to supervisors following data collection activities.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should have:
- Minimum of a Diploma in Science, Social Sciences or another relevant field.
- Proven experience supervising field data collection and related activities.
- Fluency in English and relevant local languages, particularly Hausa, Kanuri, Shuwa and Fulani.
- Strong interpretation and translation skills, especially for multilingual fieldwork.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and partners.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to work with and manage a field team.
- Strategic thinking and planning abilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of survey procedures and data quality techniques.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good understanding of the local situation and community dynamics, including cultural, gender and protection issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with communities in relevant local languages.
- Previous NGO experience is an advantage.
- Demonstrable interest in humanitarian and development principles and understanding of conflict/post-conflict contexts.
PREFERRED CANDIDATES
Female indigenes of the state where the activity will be implemented are particularly encouraged to apply.
