Médecins du Monde (MdM) is an international humanitarian organisation providing medical care and support to vulnerable populations around the world.
MdM has been operating in Nigeria since October 2016, with programmes in Borno State.
JOB SUMMARY
The Regional Humanitarian Access and Risk Advisor will strengthen security analysis, operational access and risk management across MdM programmes in 9 African countries: DRC, CAR, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Madagascar and Sudan.
The position will work closely with country security managers and Desk Officers, while providing technical support, regional analysis, capacity building and operational guidance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and analyse political and security developments across assigned countries and provide timely alerts and recommendations.
- Maintain security monitoring tools, incident databases and regional analysis systems.
- Build and maintain relationships with security and humanitarian stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance on security risk management, humanitarian access and assessments for new operational areas.
- Review security aspects of field missions, operational plans and access management systems.
- Support incident and crisis management, including post-incident analysis and lessons learned.
- Prepare security reports, regional analyses and maintain proper documentation.
- Deliver security briefings, debriefings and training to staff and partners.
- Supervise and technically support Country Humanitarian Access & Risk Advisors.
- Assess mission security management and contribute to capacity-building and improvement plans.
REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Humanitarian Security, Security Management or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Solid experience in humanitarian security management, including field missions in high-risk or complex environments.
Experience working in one or more countries within the assigned region.
Strong political and security analysis, risk assessment and operational decision-making skills.
Experience in security incident management and security training.
Strong communication, coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work under pressure and across multicultural teams.
Fluency in both English and French.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS AND BENEFITS
Gross monthly salary: €3,663
Fixed-term contract of 6 months, starting as soon as possible.
13th month salary after 6 months of service.
Expatriation allowance of 10% of gross monthly salary.
Travel, visa and vaccination costs covered.
Guesthouse accommodation.
Health insurance, with 50% covered by MdM.
Repatriation insurance.
5 weeks paid leave plus 22.5 RTT days annually.
Regular field visits to countries covered by the position.
