Position: Nutritionist

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for SI-led nutrition activities, ensuring quality implementation across nutrition education, household training, food fortification advocacy and nutrition support groups.

Key duties include:

  • Supporting programme strategy, planning, assessments and reporting.
  • Leading the design of training and demonstration modules on balanced nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, hygiene and Gender Action Learning.
  • Supporting multi-level food fortification advocacy involving government institutions, regulators, millers and traders.
  • Establishing and strengthening Mother-to-Mother and Father-to-Father nutrition peer-support groups.
  • Developing nutrition and hygiene monitoring indicators with the MEAL team.
  • Supporting programme teams with technical guidance, monitoring tools and capacity building.
  • Contributing to partnerships, programme quality, knowledge sharing and compliance.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, Food Science or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • 2–3 years of relevant field experience in community nutrition, IYCF or public health programming.
  • Experience designing and delivering nutrition/hygiene training.
  • Knowledge of maternal, infant and young child nutrition, hygiene promotion and food fortification.
  • Strong facilitation, analytical, report-writing and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and mobile data collection tools.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa. Knowledge of other local languages in Kebbi is an advantage.

The Social Protection Advisor will provide technical leadership for SI-led social protection activities, including:

  • Designing and delivering training on data management, digital platforms and social registers.
  • Supporting the review and update of the State Social Protection Policy.
  • Providing technical guidance for non-cash transfer safety-net pilots.
  • Developing social protection monitoring indicators in collaboration with MEAL.
  • Supporting the use of digital platforms and programme monitoring tools.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support project design, implementation, supervision and quality control, with particular responsibility for WASH engineering activities.

Key duties include:

  • Providing technical leadership for WASH activities, including WASHCOM and artisan training.
  • Leading rehabilitation of water points across target LGAs, including pastoralist watering points.
  • Supervising construction and rehabilitation works involving wells, water points and sanitation facilities.
  • Leading construction of Birkaroon latrines and supporting advocacy for the model.
  • Leading construction of the Gidan Gona Hub in coordination with the agricultural technical team.
  • Preparing technical designs, monitoring indicators and project documentation.
  • Supervising contractors and skilled/unskilled labour.
  • Conducting field visits and ensuring compliance with technical, donor and SI standards.
  • Supporting reporting, programme monitoring and coordination with government, communities and partners.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (BEng or BSc) in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 2–3 years of relevant field experience in WASH infrastructure, water-point construction/rehabilitation or rural construction.
  • Experience preparing technical designs and Bills of Quantities and supervising construction works.
  • Experience with boreholes, handpumps, dug wells and latrine construction.
  • Experience supervising contractors and construction labour.
  • Knowledge of WASH infrastructure design, construction supervision and quality control.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or equivalent design/drafting tools and cost estimation.
  • Strong budgeting, analytical, facilitation and report-writing skills.
  • Sound computer literacy.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide technical leadership for agricultural, forestry, climate, livestock and fisheries activities under the EU SOSAN Project.
  • Lead the technical design and quality assurance of Farmer Field Schools, demonstration farms and Community Forest Association training.
  • Integrate environmental protection, disaster risk reduction and climate-change adaptation into agricultural programming.
  • Provide technical support to livestock and fisheries activities, including livestock financing, breed demonstrations and extension services.
  • Support market-linked livelihood initiatives, including the Gidan Gona Hub and tree nursery/agroforestry businesses.
  • Develop technical indicators for agricultural, livestock and forest-based activities in collaboration with the MEAL team.
  • Participate in needs assessments, project design, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Conduct regular field visits and contribute to programme quality, learning and documentation.
  • Coordinate with government authorities, technical institutions, communities and implementing partners.
  • Support team management, capacity building and compliance with SI and donor standards.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Natural Resource Management, Forestry or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • At least 2–3 years of relevant field experience in climate-smart agriculture, livestock, forestry or natural-resource-based livelihood programming.
  • Experience with an NGO, government extension service or development programme in northern Nigeria is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering Farmer Field School or similar practical agricultural training.
  • Experience working with community-based natural resource management structures, farmer cooperatives or VSLAs is an advantage.
  • Experience engaging government departments and technical institutions.
  • Strong knowledge of climate-smart agriculture, agroforestry and/or livestock production systems.
  • Strong facilitation, analytical, organisational and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and relevant data-collection or mapping tools.
  • Commitment to gender equality and inclusion.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa. Knowledge of other local languages in Kebbi State is an advantage.
