ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Mensen met een Missie is an international cooperation and solidarity organisation working with locally rooted partner organisations across Africa, Asia and Latin America to promote peace, equality, inclusion and stronger relationships between communities.

Faith in Freedom is a programme focused on strengthening Freedom of Religion or Belief and contributing to more peaceful and inclusive societies.

In Sub Saharan Africa, the programme operates in Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda. In Nigeria, the programme will bring together 4 to 6 partner organisations into a country network.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Network Coordinator will facilitate collaboration among the Nigeria Faith in Freedom partner organisations and support the implementation of the programme strategy and workplans.

The coordinator will serve as an important link between the Nigerian partner network and the wider Faith in Freedom programme team in the Netherlands.

The successful candidate will represent Mensen met een Missie at country level while ensuring that the interests of participating partners are represented fairly and promoting inclusive, gender sensitive and faith sensitive approaches.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate and facilitate the Nigeria Faith in Freedom partner network.

Strengthen collaboration, trust and shared ownership among partner organisations.

Support implementation of the Nigeria strategy across intrafaith, interfaith and extrafaith pathways.

Help partners adapt programme approaches to Nigeria’s Freedom of Religion or Belief context.

Promote meaningful participation and leadership of women, youth, religious minorities and other marginalised groups.

Promote conflict sensitivity, power awareness and Do No Harm approaches.

Provide strategic advice and accompaniment to individual partners when required.

Monitor relevant developments in Nigeria and communicate important changes, opportunities, risks and emerging issues to the programme team in the Netherlands.

Coordinate the Nigeria advocacy agenda and connect partner priorities and community experiences with relevant local and national stakeholders.

Maintain strategic relationships with government institutions, religious bodies, civil society networks and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

PROGRAMME COORDINATION AND LEARNING

Coordinate annual planning, reflection and country reporting processes.

Bring together partner contributions for country level reporting in collaboration with programme management and PMEL teams.

Follow up on partner reporting and support consolidation of overall narrative reports.

Work with the PMEL team on monitoring, evaluation and learning activities, including baseline, midterm and endline processes where applicable.

Create opportunities for partners to reflect on progress, changing contexts, risks and lessons learned.

Organise learning events, peer exchanges and cross country learning opportunities.

Identify partner capacity strengthening needs and coordinate appropriate training, technical assistance, accompaniment and peer learning.

Coordinate logistics for programme visits and missions, including appointments, travel, accommodation and security arrangements.

SAFEGUARDING AND INCLUSION

The Network Coordinator will promote gender equality, inclusion, local ownership and mutual accountability throughout the programme.

The role will also ensure that partners understand relevant safeguarding, SEAH, integrity and risk management policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will be expected to report suspected misconduct, fraud, safeguarding incidents and other integrity concerns through appropriate channels.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates should have a relevant academic background and professional experience in international development, human rights, peacebuilding, governance or a related field.

Applicants should have a good understanding of Freedom of Religion or Belief and Nigeria’s religious, social and political context.

Experience working with religious actors, faith based organisations and diverse civil society organisations is required.

Candidates should demonstrate experience coordinating partner networks, multi stakeholder processes or consortium programmes.

Strong facilitation, relationship building and communication skills are important for this position.

Experience in programme coordination, planning, reporting, monitoring, evaluation and learning is required.

Familiarity with advocacy processes is desirable.

Applicants should demonstrate commitment to gender equality, inclusion, conflict sensitivity, Do No Harm principles and safeguarding.

Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills are required.

Candidates should be able to translate complex issues into practical actions.

Excellent written and spoken English is required.

Knowledge of relevant Nigerian languages is an advantage.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens and must be able and willing to travel regularly to programme locations within Nigeria.

Candidates should have a proactive, collaborative and reflective working style and be confident using Office 365 and online collaboration tools.
