Iconic Open University, through its Directorate of Research, Innovation, and The Impossible (DRII), is inviting applications from highly qualified researchers to coordinate and support three newly established research centres across Northern Nigeria.
The centres are designed to connect academic research with practical socio-economic development, innovation, policy, and industry needs.
📍 RESEARCH CENTRES & FOCUS AREAS
1️⃣ Centre for Agriculture and Mineral Value Research & Development — Gusau, Zamfara State
- Agricultural production, processing and value chains
- Solid mineral development
2️⃣ Centre for Industrial Renewal Research & Development — Kano, Kano State
- Industrial revitalisation
- Manufacturing innovation
- SME development
3️⃣ Centre for Public & Community Health Research & Development — Sokoto, Sokoto State
- Public health systems
- Community health integration
- Health policy
- Health-resource allocation
💼 POSITIONS AVAILABLE
🔹 Research Coordinator
Responsible for coordinating the centre’s day-to-day operations, research agenda, strategic direction, budgets, timelines, research conceptualisation, stakeholder engagement and administration.
Minimum qualification: PhD in a relevant discipline.
🔹 Research Associate
Responsible for data collection and analysis, literature reviews, report writing and research/project support.
Minimum qualification: Master’s degree in a relevant field.
🔹 Research Assistant
Provides research, administrative, documentation and fieldwork support.
Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Upper, plus a minimum of 2 years’ research-support experience.
🎓 RESEARCH COORDINATOR — RELEVANT FIELDS
Agriculture & Mineral Centre: Agricultural Science, Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, Geology or related fields.
Industrial Renewal Centre: Industrial Management, Manufacturing, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Economics or related disciplines.
Public & Community Health Centre: Public Health, Community Health, Epidemiology, Health Policy or related disciplines.
Candidates should demonstrate research experience, successful project completion, project-management capacity and strong networks within relevant industry, government or academic sectors.

- Detailed CV, including research outputs and three referees
- Vision Statement of maximum 2 pages
- Copies of academic/professional credentials
- Evidence of research experience and completed projects
- Recommendation Letters from three professional referees
📌 EMPLOYMENT TERMS
- Contract: 6 months
- Renewable: Based on performance
- Work arrangement: Full-time, on-site
- Successful candidates must be based at the designated centre
- Competitive monthly remuneration
- Travel allowance for applicable field trips
- Performance assessment during the probationary period
