Programme Overview
The MILEAD Fellows Program is a long term leadership development initiative designed to identify, nurture and support outstanding young African women with strong leadership potential. For over a decade, the programme has supported fellows to break barriers, lead transformative initiatives and challenge systems that discriminate against women and girls across Africa.
The programme equips selected fellows with world class knowledge, leadership skills, values and strong support networks needed to thrive as 21st century women leaders. Fellows also benefit from mentoring by experienced African leaders and lifelong support through the MILEAD Network.
Each fellow will design and lead a community change project focused on an issue of importance to their community or to women and girls in Africa.
Who Can Apply
The programme is open to exceptional young African women between the ages of 19 and 25
Applicants may be students or working professionals
must demonstrate leadership potential in their community, organization or profession
should have a strong commitment to advancing the rights and wellbeing of women and girls
Programme Structure
Three week residential Summer Institute in Ghana
Year long leadership development programme
Community change project led by each fellow
Training, mentoring, experiential learning and networking opportunities
Number of Fellows
Twenty five outstanding young women will be selected for the 2026 cohort
