PROJECT OFFICER

Location: Gombe, Gombe State, Nigeria
Employment Type: Full-Time (Initial 6-Month Contract, Renewable Based on Performance and Funding)
About VEPDI
Vantage Education and Peace Development Initiative (VEPDI) is a registered non-profit organisation committed to promoting peacebuilding, education, youth development, women’s empowerment, research, and community resilience through evidence-based interventions and strategic partnerships.
As we commence implementation of our flagship programmes, we are seeking to recruit a passionate, innovative, and results-oriented Project Officer to join our growing team.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
– Coordinate the planning and implementation of projects and community activities.
– Support proposal development and donor engagement.
– Organise stakeholder meetings, trainings, workshops, and community dialogues.
– Prepare high-quality project reports and documentation.
– Conduct field monitoring and support data collection.
– Assist in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) activities.
– Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, communities, NGOs, and development partners.
– Coordinate volunteers and consultants during project implementation.
– Support organisational communications, including website and social media updates.
– Perform any other duties assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
– A Bachelor’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, International Relations, Public Administration, Development Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Social Work, Education, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
– At least 2 years’ relevant experience in project management, NGO programming, research, or community development.
– Excellent report writing and communication skills.
– Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
– Experience with KoboToolbox, SurveyCTO, SPSS, or other data collection and analysis tools is an added advantage.
– Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
– Strong interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
