🌍 About the Programme
The Lafiya Programme is a UK-supported initiative aimed at transforming health systems in Nigeria. It focuses on improving equity, strengthening healthcare delivery, and enhancing outcomes for vulnerable populations—particularly in northern states such as Kaduna, Kano, Borno, Jigawa, and Yobe.
The programme contributes to key Sustainable Development Goals, including:
- Universal Health Coverage (UHC)
- Improved maternal and newborn health
- Strengthened health financing and systems
Role Overview
The State Team Lead will provide overall leadership and management for programme implementation in Kaduna State. This includes overseeing technical delivery, managing teams, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring programme goals are achieved efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Management & Delivery
- Lead planning, budgeting, and execution of state-level activities
- Ensure timely and quality delivery of programme outcomes
- Monitor progress, manage risks, and ensure value for money
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor technical and administrative staff
- Oversee recruitment, performance management, and staff development
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures
Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent the programme at state-level meetings and forums
- Build partnerships with government agencies, donors, and community stakeholders
- Collaborate with ministries and health institutions
Requirements
- Master’s degree (or higher) in Public Health, Health Economics, Policy, or related field
- Extensive experience in senior programme management
- Strong expertise in health systems strengthening, financing, and policy
- Experience working with government and donor-funded programmes
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Knowledge of Northern Nigeria’s health systems (advantage)
- Hausa language skills (preferred)
