Job Title: Learning & Development Specialist
Location: Abuja, FCT
Contract Type: Fixed-term (initial 6 months)
Level: 8

Main Purpose
The Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining learning and development (L&D) activities in alignment with MSF policies and standards. The role supports continuous staff capability development and performance improvement to meet operational objectives, while collaborating with management teams to assess learning needs and deliver appropriate solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and monitor L&D tools, processes, and plans in line with MSF standards
• Conduct learning needs assessments and develop Mission Learning Plans (MLP)
• Collaborate with HR and departmental managers to support staff development across the employee lifecycle
• Coordinate and deliver training programs, workshops, coaching, and mentoring initiatives
• Lead induction programs, including the “Welcome to MSF” course
• Facilitate individual learning plans and support staff in achieving development goals
• Ensure proper documentation and reporting of training activities and learning outcomes
• Monitor online learning platforms and provide regular reports on engagement and progress
• Evaluate L&D programs and provide feedback for continuous improvement
• Act as a technical advisor on L&D matters and support projects across the mission when required

Requirements

Education
• Degree in Human Resources, Learning & Development, Organizational Development, or related field

Experience
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a relevant role
• Experience delivering training using adult learning methodologies
• Previous experience with MSF or other NGOs is an added advantage

Skills & Competencies
• Strong understanding of employee lifecycle and L&D processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Internet)
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Strong teamwork, flexibility, and stress management skills
• Commitment to MSF principles and humanitarian values

Language
• Advanced English proficiency (C1 level required)
• Knowledge of local languages is an added advantage

Remuneration
Salary is in line with MSF’s national salary scale.
