JOB OPPORTUNITY: GBV/CASE MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST – DANISH REFUGEE COUNCIL (DRC), NIGERIA

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), a leading international humanitarian organization, is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to fill the role of GBV/Case Management (CM) Specialist in Abuja, Nigeria.

Founded in 1956 and headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, DRC operates in over 40 countries, providing emergency assistance, advocating for the rights of displaced populations, and supporting sustainable solutions for refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). In Nigeria, DRC has been active since 2016, delivering multi-sectoral humanitarian interventions across the Northeast and Northwest regions.

Background

Nigeria faces one of the world’s most complex humanitarian crises, with over 2.3 million people internally displaced in the Northeast and an additional 1.3 million displaced in the Northwest due to conflict, insecurity, and climate-related challenges. DRC’s operations focus on protection, economic recovery, and resilience programming, supporting vulnerable populations affected by displacement.

Role Overview

The GBV/CM Specialist will provide technical leadership, strategic direction, and capacity building across DRC’s Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and case management programming. The role involves ensuring high-quality implementation, strengthening systems, and supporting both DRC staff and partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on GBV prevention, response, and gender mainstreaming across programs.

• Develop and implement GBV tools, SOPs, and training curricula (e.g., EMAP, No Means No, JoT).

• Strengthen referral pathways, GBVIMS systems, and reporting mechanisms.

• Deliver training and mentorship to staff and partners across Northeast and Northwest Nigeria.

• Conduct field monitoring, quality assurance, and case management supervision.

• Support program design, proposal development, and coordination with stakeholders.

• Oversee case management processes, including cash-for-protection interventions and data systems.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in GBV programming within an INGO setting.

• At least 4 years of experience delivering GBV/gender training.

• Proven experience in case management supervision and working with national and international partners.

• Strong knowledge of GBVIMS, protection programming, and behavior-change methodologies.

• Degree in Social Work, Gender Studies, or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).

• Full professional proficiency in English.

• Additional advantage: knowledge of Northern Nigerian languages and experience in integrated programming.
