A postgraduate student currently undertaking a Master’s Degree in Peace Studies & Conflict Resolution is seeking a qualified and committed Project Assistant to support both field and desk research for a Master’s thesis titled:

“Banditry and Insecurity in Northern Nigeria: Implications for Sustainable Peace.”

This role is designed as a short-term, paid research engagement and offers hands-on experience in peacebuilding, conflict analysis, and security research within the Nigerian context.

Location

North-West Nigeria (with desk-based research components; remote work possible)

Eligibility Criteria

  • BSc or Master’s degree in Political Science, Peace & Conflict Studies, International Relations, Sociology, Security Studies, or related disciplines
  • Strong research, data collection, and analytical skills
  • Ability to conduct interviews, take detailed field notes, and support qualitative analysis
  • Familiarity with security and conflict issues in Northern Nigeria is an added advantage
  • Good writing, communication, and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Support field data collection and conduct interviews where required
  • Assist with literature review and research documentation
  • Help with transcription, organization, and analysis of qualitative data
  • Provide general research and administrative support throughout the project duration
