The Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF France) is currently recruiting for the position of Staff Psychologist based in Abuja, Nigeria. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified mental health professionals to contribute to impactful humanitarian work supporting staff well-being in challenging operational environments.

🌍 About the Role

MSF is an international, independent medical humanitarian organization that provides assistance to people affected by crises, conflicts, and disasters. In Nigeria, MSF France is actively working with government health authorities on projects including maternity and VVF response in Jahun (Jigawa State) and malaria and nutrition interventions in Katsina State.

The Staff Psychologist will play a key role in supporting the mental health and well-being of MSF staff, ensuring they are equipped to operate effectively in demanding field conditions.

🧠 Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group psychological support to staff
  • Conduct psychoeducation and mental health awareness sessions
  • Deliver training on stress management and psychosocial support
  • Identify workplace stressors and implement preventive strategies
  • Refer staff to specialized mental health professionals when necessary
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of staff information
  • Collect, analyze, and report mental health data and activities
  • Participate in supervision, training, and critical incident management

🎓 Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology (minimum 5 years)
  • At least 2 years of professional experience as a psychologist
  • Experience with NGOs or humanitarian settings is an advantage
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in relevant local languages
  • Ability to work under pressure and within multidisciplinary teams

💼 Remuneration & Benefits:

  • Salary aligned with MSF salary scale
  • 13th month allowance (equivalent to one month’s gross salary)
