💼 The Opportunity
The Business Development Manager will lead institutional fundraising and business development efforts in Nigeria. The role focuses on donor intelligence, opportunity identification, pipeline development, and proposal management.
You will be responsible for coordinating high-quality funding proposals, engaging donors and partners, and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and donor requirements.
🛠 Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of institutional business development strategies
- Identify and track funding opportunities and donor trends
- Build and manage a strong funding pipeline to improve success rates
- Develop and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders
- Lead proposal development processes and ensure timely submissions
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to align technical and financial proposals
- Provide strategic insights on donor priorities and positioning
- Supervise and support the business development team
🎓 About You
- Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum of 7–8 years’ experience in business development or fundraising within the development sector
- At least 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Proven success in securing institutional funding
- Strong understanding of donor landscapes and funding mechanisms
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, consortium building, and negotiation
- Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
