Call for Applications: SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria Youth Development Training (2025–2028)

SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria has announced a call for applications for its Youth Development Training Programme, designed to empower young people with practical skills for employability and entrepreneurship.

SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria is part of the global SOS Children’s Villages International Federation, founded in 1949 in Austria and currently operating in 136 countries and territories. Established in Nigeria in 1973 following the Civil War, the organization has expanded its presence across 12 states, including Lagos, Ogun, Abuja (FCT), Plateau, Borno, Edo, Oyo, Kwara, Abia, Imo, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom.

The organization’s core thematic areas include Alternative Care of Children, Family Strengthening, Youth Development, and Humanitarian Response. Through these focus areas, SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria continues to provide sustainable support systems for vulnerable children, families, and young people nationwide.

As part of its commitment to youth empowerment, the organization is offering the Entrepreneurship and Employability Training (EET) programme for young individuals aged 18 to 29. The initiative targets residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos, Ogun, Kwara, Abia, Imo, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Plateau, and Borno States who are interested in securing decent employment or building successful businesses.

The programme is designed to equip participants—at least 50% of whom will be female—with demand-driven skills tailored for both the job market and entrepreneurial success.

Programme Structure

The training is divided into two distinct tracks: Employability and Entrepreneurship. Applicants are required to select and register for only one track.

Employability Track:

  • A 10-day Job Readiness Skills Training
  • A 3-month Internship Placement with stipends

Entrepreneurship Track:

  • A 10-day Entrepreneurship Skills Training
  • Mentoring and Coaching support for selected participants (winners)

Both training tracks will be conducted entirely online, ensuring accessibility and flexibility for participants across the eligible states. Additionally, participants who successfully complete their respective training programmes and present their certificates will receive data reimbursement stipends to support their participation.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be between 18 and 29 years old
  • Reside in one of the eligible states (FCT, Lagos, Ogun, Kwara, Abia, Imo, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Plateau, or Borno)
  • Demonstrate interest in either employment or entrepreneurship pathways
  • Be available to participate fully in the selected training track

Application Timeline

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis; however, submissions for the current stream will close on 10th July 2026. The training programme is scheduled to commence on 15th July 2026.
