Terre des hommes (Tdh), a leading Swiss child relief organization with over 50 years of impact, is recruiting a Protection Officer to support its integrated protection programming in Nigeria.

📍 Location: Benue & Nasarawa States
💰 Salary: From NGN 610,000

The Protection Officer will support field-level implementation of child protection and psychosocial programmes, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and resilience of vulnerable children, adolescents, women, and caregivers. The role involves delivering high-quality interventions in Child Protection (CP), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Community-Based Protection (CBP), and SGBV prevention and response.

🔑 Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement integrated protection activities across CP, MHPSS, CBP, and SGBV
  • Conduct child protection case management, including assessments, case planning, referrals, and follow-ups
  • Facilitate psychosocial support sessions (PFA, PM+, EASE, BLOOM, etc.)
  • Support safe referrals and survivor-centered approaches for vulnerable individuals
  • Lead community engagement, awareness campaigns, and child protection initiatives
  • Maintain accurate documentation using CPIMS+/Primero and reporting tools
  • Collaborate with government bodies, NGOs, and community stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, PSEA, and accountability standards

🎓 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in child protection or MHPSS programming
  • Strong experience in case management, community engagement, and referrals
  • Fluency in English and relevant local languages (Hausa, Idoma, Eggon, Gwandara, Igede)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital data tools (Kobo, CommCare, etc.)

🌍 Experience in North Central or Northeast Nigeria and knowledge of CPMS, IASC Guidelines, and Nigerian protection systems is an added advantage.
