Overview of the Fellowship

Enhancing Communities Action for Peace and Better Health Initiatives (e-CAPH) is proud to announce the official launch of the NextGeneration: Adolescent Health Fellowship (Cohort 1.0). This landmark initiative is a youth-focused, digital-first fellowship designed to empower the next vanguard of health advocates in North-West Nigeria.

In a region where access to accurate health information remains a significant challenge, this program seeks to identify, train, and deploy 21 dynamic Adolescents and Young People (AYPs). These selected fellows will be equipped to serve as Peer Educators and Digital Health Advocates, bridging the gap between critical health services and the youth population.

 The Curriculum and Impact

The fellowship is structured as an intensive four-month capacity-building journey. Fellows will undergo expert-led training sessions focusing on a holistic approach to adolescent well-being. The curriculum covers essential pillars including:

•  Nutrition and Physical Health: Promoting healthy lifestyles and dietary awareness.

•  Mental Well-being: De-stigmatizing mental health issues and providing tools for psychological resilience.

•  Reproductive Rights and Health: Disseminating accurate, science-based information on reproductive health.

•  Digital Advocacy: Utilizing social media and virtual platforms to lead high-impact health campaigns.

 Program Structure & Commitment

To ensure flexibility and wide reach across the North-West, the fellowship adopts a hybrid virtual model. Participants must be committed to the following weekly schedule:

•  Instructional Learning: Expert-led virtual sessions held every Saturday and Sunday.

•  Advocacy Engagement: Weekly fellow-led virtual interactions held every Wednesday.

•  Field Impact: Periodic peer outreach activities to implement learned modules within local communities.

 Eligibility and Selection Criteria

We are seeking ambitious young leaders who are passionate about community service and public health. To be eligible, applicants must:

•  Age: Be between 18 and 35 years old.

•  Residency: Reside in one of the following North-West states: Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, or Kebbi.

•  Attributes: Demonstrate a strong interest in health advocacy, mental health awareness, and digital storytelling.

•  Technology: Have consistent access to a smartphone or computer and a stable internet connection for virtual learning.
