NNNGO Digital Rights Training
The Nigeria Network of NGOs has officially announced the opening of applications for a fully funded one-day Train-the-Trainer Workshop on Digital Rights, Safety, and Security. The training is scheduled to take place in Abuja and is part of the organisation’s broader effort to strengthen the digital resilience of civil society organisations (CSOs) across Nigeria.
According to NNNGO, the initiative is designed to enhance awareness and build capacity in the areas of digital rights, online safety, and cybersecurity preparedness. With the increasing reliance on digital tools and platforms, civil society organisations face growing exposure to cyber threats, data breaches, and digital surveillance. This workshop aims to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to navigate these challenges effectively.
The programme will focus on key thematic areas such as understanding digital rights, safeguarding sensitive information, managing online risks, and adopting secure communication practices. In addition, participants will be trained on how to cascade the knowledge gained by replicating the training within their respective organisations, coalitions, and networks. This “train-the-trainer” approach ensures that the impact of the workshop extends beyond the initial participants, contributing to a wider culture of digital safety within the civil society space.
NNNGO emphasized that the workshop is open to a wide range of applicants, including coalitions, associations, and individual civil society organisations that are committed to strengthening their digital protection systems. Organisations working in advocacy, governance, human rights, and community development are particularly encouraged to apply, as they are often at higher risk of digital vulnerabilities.
To support participation, the organisation has stated that modest travel support will be provided to shortlisted applicants who will be attending the training in Abuja. This is intended to reduce financial barriers and ensure inclusivity, allowing organisations from different parts of the country to benefit from the opportunity.
Interested applicants are required to complete the official application form provided by the organisers. The application process is straightforward and designed to capture relevant information about the applicant’s organisation, their current level of digital safety awareness, and their interest in cascading the training.
Applications must be submitted on or before the deadline of May 22, 2026. Late submissions may not be considered, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted with further details regarding the workshop.
