Nigeria Youth Climate Summit 2026

The National Council on Climate Change (NCCC), in collaboration with UNICEF, is inviting applications from passionate and committed young Nigerians to participate in the Nigeria Youth Climate Summit 2026. This high-level, two-day hybrid event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 2nd June and Wednesday, 3rd June 2026, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, bringing together youth leaders and key stakeholders from across the country.

The summit, themed “Youth Leadership in Climate Action: Amplifying Youth Voices in the Implementation of Nigeria’s NDC 3.0,” aims to provide a dynamic platform for young people to actively engage in climate discourse and contribute meaningfully to national climate strategies. It will convene approximately 150 youth participants, alongside policymakers, climate innovators, civil society organizations, and development partners, all working collaboratively to strengthen Nigeria’s response to climate change.

As part of this initiative, the organizers seek to identify and empower proactive young Nigerians who are already contributing to climate action within their communities. Selected applicants from the six geopolitical zones will be recognized as Youth Climate Champions and will receive full sponsorship to attend the summit in Abuja. These individuals will play a key role in co-creating practical, youth-driven solutions aligned with Nigeria’s climate commitments under the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0) framework.

In addition to sponsored participants, other qualified applicants will still have the opportunity to participate in the summit. Such individuals will be invited to attend on a self-funded basis, while a broader audience of young people across Nigeria is encouraged to participate virtually, ensuring inclusivity and wider engagement.

By completing the application form, interested youths are not only applying to attend the summit but are also expressing interest in becoming part of a national database of youth climate advocates. This database will serve as a strategic network aimed at strengthening youth participation in climate governance and advancing sustainable environmental policies across Nigeria.

The Nigeria Youth Climate Summit 2026 represents a significant opportunity for young Nigerians to amplify their voices, connect with key stakeholders, and contribute to shaping the country’s climate future under the banner: “Our Climate, Our Future, Our Voice.”
