Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) – Holland in Nigeria Limited by Guarantee, an international, independent, and non-profit medical humanitarian organization, is currently recruiting qualified candidates for the position of Medical Doctor (Peak Season Pool) in Sokoto State, Nigeria.
MSF has been operating in Nigeria since 1996, providing life-saving medical assistance to populations affected by conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, and healthcare emergencies, in collaboration with national and local authorities.

Main Purpose of the Role
The Medical Doctor will provide outpatient and inpatient medical care in line with MSF protocols and universal hygiene standards, ensuring high-quality treatment and improved health outcomes for patients, particularly vulnerable groups such as internally displaced persons (IDPs) and children with severe acute malnutrition (SAM).
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Patient Management
- Diagnose and treat patients according to MSF guidelines
- Conduct ward rounds, consultations, and follow-ups
- Monitor patient progress and determine discharge or referral needs
- Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans and nutrition
Program Implementation & Collaboration
- Work closely with Ministry of Health (MoH) staff and MSF teams
- Support management of patients in ITFC and other units
- Participate in TB screening and case management activities
- Coordinate referrals to specialist facilities (e.g., UDUTH)
Quality of Care & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols
- Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews
- Maintain confidentiality and follow MSF ethical standards
- Monitor rational use of medicines and medical supplies
Data & Reporting
- Accurately collect and update patient data
- Contribute to weekly/monthly medical reports
- Support data analysis for program planning and evaluation
Training & Supervision
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to medical staff
- Supervise team performance and organize duty schedules
- Participate in emergency response and on-call duties
Requirements
Education
- Essential: Registered Medical Doctor
- Desirable: Diploma in Tropical Medicine
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience
- Experience in humanitarian or tropical medicine settings is an advantage
Languages
- Essential: Fluent English and Hausa
- Desirable: Fulfulde (Fulani)
Technical Skills
- Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Internet)
