ROLE SUMMARY
The Assistant, Accountability and Effectiveness will support the Accountability and Effectiveness team in implementing accountability mechanisms across IMC programmes.
The role focuses particularly on community engagement, information sharing, meaningful participation of beneficiaries, feedback and complaints handling, protection mainstreaming and safeguarding.
The successful candidate will also support the collection, documentation, management and analysis of feedback and complaints received through IMC’s Community Based Feedback and Response Mechanisms (CBFRM).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support reporting on Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) and Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) commitments.
- Support the development of community communication and information-sharing plans.
- Help ensure information is communicated to crisis-affected communities in simple, accessible and preferred languages and formats.
- Participate in collecting feedback from beneficiaries regarding IMC programmes and services.
- Support programmes and operations to adopt protection mainstreaming approaches.
- Assist with protection risk assessments and development of mitigation measures.
- Support stakeholder analysis, communication needs assessments and community consultations.
- Ensure accountability data is collected routinely throughout the project cycle.
- Support the development and use of tools for learning and evidence-based decision-making.
- Maintain and support the Community Based Feedback and Response Mechanism.
- Receive feedback through channels such as feedback boxes, WhatsApp, email, phone hotlines and help desks.
- Enter feedback and complaints accurately into the central CBFRM database.
- Review, categorize and refer feedback to appropriate departments or service providers.
- Follow up on complaints to ensure that issues are properly addressed.
- Support timely communication of responses and resolutions to individuals or communities who submitted complaints.
- Assist with field visits to monitor data collection, feedback mechanisms and the placement of suggestion boxes and relevant signage.
- Support the maintenance and updating of the CBFRM database.
- Analyse feedback data to identify trends and provide recommendations.
- Prepare regular reports on feedback, complaints, caseloads and the effectiveness of feedback channels.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants should typically have:
- A Diploma in Social Sciences, Public Health, Statistics, International Development or a related field.
- Relevant experience or background in accountability to affected populations, protection mainstreaming and/or safeguarding.
- At least 2 years of applied experience with a humanitarian organisation, particularly working with refugees or Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
- Basic knowledge of accountability mechanisms.
- Strong experience in database entry and management.
- Good understanding of the local context.
- Strong time-management and organisational skills.
- Ability to follow up effectively with different departments.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
- Understanding of data collection methods.
- Good communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with people from different backgrounds.
- Medium-level English proficiency in speaking, reading and writing.
- High-level proficiency in the relevant country-specific language in speaking, reading and writing.
KEY SKILLS
The ideal candidate should be an effective communicator, active learner and team player with strong attention to detail.
The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to manage data accurately, meet deadlines, follow up on outstanding issues and work effectively in a humanitarian environment.
