Dunn and Braxton Limited is recruiting a highly experienced and strategic finance professional for the position of Accounts Director in Lagos, Nigeria.

The current opportunity is for an Accounts Director who will provide strategic leadership across the organisation’s financial management function and help drive compliance, profitability, financial sustainability and long-term business growth.

About the Role

The Accounts Director will oversee the company’s financial management framework and provide strategic financial leadership across its operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, the Board of Directors, banks, auditors, regulators, investors and other stakeholders to strengthen financial performance, risk management, compliance and operational efficiency.

The role also involves overseeing financial activities across multiple business functions and supporting operations across different countries, including Ghana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the United Arab Emirates and Sierra Leone.

Key Responsibilities

The Accounts Director will:

Supervise the day-to-day activities of the Accounts Department.

Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with corporate objectives.

Oversee budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning.

Provide quarterly financial insights and reports to the Board and Executive Management.

Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax laws and statutory requirements across Group locations.

Establish and monitor internal financial controls to safeguard company assets.

Lead external audits and regulatory reviews.

Supervise financial operations covering Accounts, Profit and Loss, Projects, Contracts and Service and Maintenance.

Improve receivables collection and cash flow management.

Oversee reconciliation of ledger accounts and continuous improvement of accounting procedures.

Identify financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.

Conduct financial evaluations to identify cost-reduction and revenue-optimisation opportunities.

Build relationships with banks, auditors, regulators and investors.

Negotiate financing arrangements, credit facilities and banking charges.

Represent the organisation during financial discussions with Board members and external stakeholders.

Lead, mentor and develop the Accounts and Finance team.

Review, update and communicate departmental SOPs and best practices.

Promote accountability, innovation and continuous improvement across the finance function.

OHSE Responsibilities

The successful candidate will also be expected to support health, safety and environmental compliance within finance operations.

This includes ensuring financial decisions consider sustainability, climate-change awareness, waste reduction and energy efficiency while promoting a positive health, safety and environmental culture.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

An MBA or MSc in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA or CFA is preferred.

Strong experience in corporate finance, investment analysis and risk management.

Advanced knowledge of tax laws, statutory requirements and corporate governance.

In-depth knowledge of international accounting standards, including IFRS and GAAP.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Strong experience using SAP S/4HANA is required.

Strategic thinking and strong financial leadership abilities.

Advanced negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Ability to manage complex financial structures and multi-departmental operations.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly for Board-level reporting.

Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and drive organisational change.

Ability to work effectively within a multicultural environment.

French-language proficiency is an added advantage.

Experience
