ABOUT PREMIÈRE URGENCE INTERNATIONALE

Première Urgence Internationale PUI is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-religious international humanitarian organisation providing emergency assistance to vulnerable populations affected by marginalisation, exclusion, natural disasters, conflict and economic crises.

PUI has operated in Nigeria since 2016 and currently supports humanitarian activities in locations including Borno and Katsina States.

JOB OBJECTIVE

The Information Technology Officer will support the Logistics Coordinator and Deputy Logistics Coordinator in meeting the mission’s IT needs in accordance with PUI standards and procedures.

The officer will work under the direct supervision of the Deputy Logistics Coordinator and technically manage the Logistics and IT Assistant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SOFTWARE AND SHAREPOINT MANAGEMENT

Install and manage software including antivirus programmes and Microsoft Office.

Maintain and responsibly manage software licence codes.

Recommend appropriate software purchases and solutions.

Resolve staff software-related issues and provide guidance on new software.

Set up and manage mission-wide databases and SharePoint systems.

Ensure effective backup of mission laptops to OneDrive.

Promote digital archiving and collaboration tools across departments.

Conduct staff training on SharePoint, digital archiving and collaboration platforms.

Provide training on cybersecurity and data protection in line with Nigeria’s data protection regulations.

IT AND COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT

Support the repair and maintenance of laptops, printers, scanners and other IT equipment.

Ensure availability and proper installation of printer toners.

Support repairs of radio and communication equipment across field bases.

Train staff on the proper use and care of IT and communication equipment.

Ensure laptops, phones and other IT assets are issued according to mission standards.

Maintain physical inventory of IT equipment.

Collate IT needs and communicate procurement requirements to management.

Support the procurement of new satellite communication credit.

Ensure communication equipment in safe rooms remains functional.

Ensure IT equipment specifications are standardised across the mission.

EMAIL MANAGEMENT

Facilitate timely creation of staff email accounts.

Maintain the mission email password database.

Manage email installation, removal and related technical issues.

Assist new staff with email signatures and ensure compliance with PUI standards.

Liaise with PUI Headquarters IT teams on unresolved technical issues.

INTERNET AND COMMUNICATION SUBSCRIPTIONS

Monitor and update communication credits across the mission.

Configure mission contact lists on mobile phones.

Monitor internet consumption and recommend appropriate usage restrictions.

Facilitate timely renewal of internet subscriptions.

Liaise with internet service providers to resolve connectivity problems across PUI bases.

IT ASSET MANAGEMENT

Support procurement processes by providing technical specifications for IT hardware, software and related assets.

Verify specifications, quality and warranty coverage of newly acquired IT equipment.

Maintain and regularly update the IT asset register.

Tag and label IT assets for proper identification and tracking.

Deploy, configure and document new IT assets.

Track assets throughout their lifecycle, from acquisition to disposal.

Manage warranties, service agreements and software licence renewals.

Conduct preventive maintenance of IT equipment.

Ensure compliance with software licensing and IT asset policies.

Implement appropriate security measures, including encryption and access control.

Train staff on the proper use, care and security of IT assets.

DOCUMENTATION AND REPORTING

Maintain accurate records of IT and communication equipment.

Submit monthly IT reports to the Deputy Logistics Coordinator.

Centralise and archive logistics documentation relating to IT and communication.

Maintain secure records of mission passwords and ensure accountability in the use of PUI software licences.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.

2 to 4 years of relevant professional experience.

Strong knowledge of IT systems, software installation and troubleshooting.

Experience managing computer hardware, printers, scanners and communication equipment.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and digital collaboration platforms.

Experience with SharePoint and OneDrive is an advantage.

Knowledge of cybersecurity and data protection practices.

Strong organisational and documentation skills.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to provide technical support and train staff.

Ability to work independently and support IT operations across multiple locations.
