The ECOWAS Volunteers Programme (EVP) 2026 is now open for applications from qualified young professionals across West Africa. This flagship initiative of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) aims to engage skilled youth in supporting regional development, peacebuilding, and integration efforts.

The programme provides participants with the opportunity to gain international work experience, contribute to impactful development projects, and build professional networks across the ECOWAS region.

Programme Overview:
The EVP is implemented by the ECOWAS Commission through the ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre (EYSDC), headquartered in Monrovia, Liberia. It focuses on harnessing the skills, creativity, and commitment of young professionals to support development initiatives while enhancing their leadership and career growth.

Featured Role:
Communication and Visibility Specialist (International Volunteer)
The selected candidate will support programmes under the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security, as well as the ECOWAS Peace Fund. The role involves promoting programme visibility, supporting communication strategies, and contributing to peace and security initiatives across West Africa.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a citizen of an ECOWAS Member State
  • Must not be older than 35 years at the time of application
  • Minimum of three (3) years professional experience
  • At least two (2) years’ experience with an international organisation
  • Relevant specialised skills for the position applied for
  • Willingness to serve outside country of origin (exceptions may apply for Nigerian candidates with specialised skills)

Benefits and Allowances:

  • Initial contract duration of 12 months
  • Monthly volunteer allowance of $412.5 USD (or equivalent in local currency)
  • Additional allowances in line with ECOWAS conditions of service
  • Opportunity to gain international experience and contribute to regional development

  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Copies of academic and professional certificates
  • Copy of international passport or National ID
  • Police clearance certificate (issued within the last three months; required before resumption)
