For nearly 45 years, the organization has implemented lifesaving programs in Health, Nutrition, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, Food Security and Livelihoods, and Social Protection.

Action Against Hunger Nigeria began operations in 2010 in response to high rates of chronic malnutrition in Northern Nigeria. The organization currently delivers multi sectoral humanitarian and development interventions across Northeast and Northwest Nigeria with funding from AFD, EU ECHO, French Government, GAC, GFFO, SIDA, US Government, and WAM Foundation.

Role Summary

The Driver will ensure the safe use of assigned vehicles, safeguard passengers and transported goods, and maintain accurate reporting on vehicle usage. The position reports to the Logistics Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Driving and Safety

Drive safely in compliance with national traffic regulations and logistics planning instructions

Ensure safety and security of staff onboard

Ensure passengers fasten seatbelts

Report accidents or incidents immediately and complete incident report within 4 hours or upon return to base

Follow organizational regulations and manufacturer guidelines

Undertake interstate and field movements including overnight stays when required

Work according to roster including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays

Ensure valid personal and vehicle documents are always onboard

Ensure required safety equipment is onboard and functional

Vehicle Maintenance

Perform daily and weekly vehicle checks

Resolve minor mechanical issues and report major repairs immediately

Maintain vehicle cleanliness

Track maintenance schedule and notify logistics 500 to 1000 km before service due

Inspect and prepare vehicle one day before departure

Logistics and Documentation

Load transported goods and ensure delivery notes are completed and signed

Obtain consignee signatures and return documents to sender

Confirm all required equipment is onboard including communication tools, medical kit, and fuel

Confirm security clearance before cross state movements

Record movements in the logbook and obtain passenger signatures

Accurately complete fuel logbook daily and after maintenance

Submit logbook monthly

Submit fuel, airport, and parking receipts for reconciliation

Position Requirements

First School Leaving Certificate or equivalent

Valid Nigerian driver’s license

Proficiency in English

Good reading and writing skills

Strong knowledge of traffic rules

Flexible and adaptable

Strong communication skills and integrity

Knowledge of security procedures

Ability to remain calm under pressure

Previous experience is an advantage
