Decent Work and Workplace Rights Training for Young Nigerians
The Decent Work and Workplace Rights Training is a capacity-building initiative designed specifically for young Nigerians. This workshop forms part of a broader youth-led research project conducted by NGYouthSDGs, which focuses on understanding and improving decent work conditions across Nigeria.
Findings from the research reveal that many young people encounter significant workplace challenges. These include unfair treatment by employers, absence of formal employment contracts, unsafe or unhealthy working environments, and limited awareness of their fundamental workplace rights. Such issues often prevent young Nigerians from accessing dignified and secure employment opportunities.
In response to these challenges, the training aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge and understanding of workplace rights and responsibilities. It is designed to help young people recognize different forms of workplace violations and provide practical strategies for addressing them effectively. Additionally, the workshop will equip participants with essential skills to improve their employability and navigate pathways toward securing decent and sustainable work.
The program will also introduce participants to the concept of youth advocacy, encouraging them to actively promote fair labor practices within their communities and workplaces. Through interactive sessions, discussions, and practical exercises, participants will gain insights that empower them to make informed decisions and protect their rights.
Furthermore, this registration form serves as a baseline assessment tool. It is intended to capture participants’ existing knowledge, expectations, and experiences prior to the workshop. The information collected will help organizers tailor the training sessions to better meet participants’ needs and evaluate the overall learning outcomes.
