Job Summary
The Biomed Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all biomedical equipment in the hospital and projects are functional, safe, well maintained, and available for patient care. The role involves planning biomedical activities, supervising biomedical technicians, managing equipment maintenance, coordinating repairs and supplies, and providing technical support and training to staff.
Key Responsibilities
The Biomed Manager will plan and coordinate all biomedical activities in line with organisational standards and annual work plans.
The role includes managing the installation, maintenance, renewal, and disposal of biomedical equipment.
The Biomed Manager will ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, fault diagnosis, certification, and proper documentation.
The role involves coordinating equipment repair and support between different projects and with service providers and supply centres.
The Biomed Manager will manage spare parts and backup equipment stock and ensure proper inventory records.
The role includes supervising biomedical technicians and planning their daily activities.
The Biomed Manager will support recruitment, training, evaluation, and development of biomedical staff in collaboration with project and human resources teams.
The role includes training medical and technical staff on proper use, safety, hygiene, and basic maintenance of biomedical equipment.
The Biomed Manager will ensure oxygen systems are properly installed, functional, and safe for continuous patient care.
The role includes maintaining accurate equipment records, maintenance logs, repair reports, and asset tracking systems.
The Biomed Manager will support hospital management in planning equipment needs, replacements, upgrades, and emergency preparedness.
The role includes coordinating with medical, logistics, and supply teams to ensure smooth hospital operations.
The Biomed Manager will prepare regular reports on equipment status, maintenance activities, and technical challenges.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must have a diploma in Biomedical Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Electronic Technology, Electronic Engineering, or Clinical Engineering.
Applicants must have at least 2 years of experience working as a biomedical or electronic technician or engineer.
Supervisory experience and training or teaching experience are an added advantage.
Strong technical skills in equipment repairs, installations, and maintenance are required.
Applicants must have good computer skills and knowledge of electrical engineering principles, asset management, safety procedures, and problem solving.
Fluency in English is required and ability to speak Hausa is an added advantage.
