1. Background
RAHAMA GIRL CHILD AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVE is a grassroots, dedicated to improving the lives of girls, adolescents, and women in nortnern Nigeria. The Girls Education and Protection Program focuses on strengthening the educational pathways, safety, wellbeing, and life opportunities of adolescent girls aged 10-19 years. The program supports adolescent girls (ages 10–19) to enroll, stay, and succeed in school through community engagement, life skills education, mentorship, and collaboration with government and community structures.
To ensure effective implementation at the LGA level, RAHAMA seeks LGA-Level Facilitators to coordinate field activities, mobilize communities, and support girls’ learning and personal development.
2. Purpose of the Assignment
To support high-quality implementation of the Girls’ Education and Protection Program at the LGA level, ensuring effective facilitation of learning activities, strong community engagement, and a supportive environment that encourages school attendance, retention, and transition for adolescent girls.
3. Roles and Responsibilities
A. Education Support & Learning Facilitation
- Support activities that promote girls’ enrollment, attendance, and retention in school.
- Facilitate school-based and community-based learning circles, homework support groups, and mentorship sessions.
- Collaborate with teachers, guidance counselors, and School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs) to identify girls who may need additional academic or psychosocial support.
- Assist in organizing life-skills sessions covering communication, goal setting, confidence building, decision-making, and wellbeing.
- Strengthen linkages between schools, parents, and communities to reinforce the value of education for adolescents.
B. Community Mobilization & Engagement
- Mobilize parents, caregivers, school personnel, women groups, youth groups, and other key community actors to actively participate in program activities.
- Support community dialogues and sensitizations on the importance of girls’ education, safe learning environments, and supportive parenting practices.
- Encourage community-led initiatives that help girls remain in school (e.g., study groups, mentorship clubs, community education champions).
- Ensure inclusion of vulnerable and out-of-school girls in program activities.
C. Child Protection, Wellbeing & Referral Support
- Promote safe and supportive environments where girls can learn and thrive at home, in school, and in the community.
- Identify and refer cases where girls face barriers to schooling such as psychosocial distress, family challenges, or other protection concerns using RAHAMA’s confidential referral pathways.
- Ensure all activities uphold RAHAMA’s safeguarding standards and respect community norms.
- Work with parents, schools, and community structures to address issues that may hinder girls’ continued education.
D. Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with:
- Ministry of Women Affairs staff at LGA level
- School leadership and teachers
- SBMCs and Parent-Teacher Associations
- Community leaders and influencers
- Support coordination of education-focused community events, study camps, and training sessions.
- Facilitate information sharing between communities and RAHAMA’s project team.
E. Monitoring, Data Collection & Reporting
- Conduct routine monitoring of learning circles, mentorship groups, and community activities.
- Collect accurate data on:
- Attendance and participation
- Girls’ school enrollment and retention indicators
- Activity outputs and outcomes
- Submit weekly and monthly reports including challenges, observations, and success stories.
- Document community feedback and propose solutions to emerging issues.
