The Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) National Essay Competition provides cash awards of ₦10m to celebrate the winners and outstanding participants of the contest.

Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) National Essay Competition Details:

The Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) has announced the commencement of Season 4 of its National Essay Competition (NEC).

NEC Season 4 is designed to promote critical thinking among young Nigerians while stimulating informed dialogue on public finance, accountability, and national development.

The program seeks to invite young Nigerians to demonstrate their intellectual depth, analytical capacity, and policy insight on one of the nation’s most pressing economic issues.

The focus of this year’s competition is taxation and governance, with participants required to respond to the essay question: “Analyze the challenges faced by the Nigerian Revenue Service in the implementation of the new tax laws and propose practical solutions to address them.”

Eligibility Requirements for National Essay Competition (NEC) 2026

To be considered for the National Essay Competition (NEC) 2026, you must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens
  • Be between 20 and 35 years old
  • Submit an original essay
  • Persons living with disabilities are also encouraged to apply
 
  • First Prize – ₦5,000,000
  • Second Prize – ₦3,000,000
  • Third Prize – ₦2,000,000

National Essay Competition (NEC) Submission Guidelines

Applicants must ensure that their essay meets the following requirements:

  • Essay must be original, analytical, and well-researched
  • Proper referencing and citation must be included
  • Essay must be typed using:
    • Times New Roman font
    • Font size 12
    • Double spacing

Submission must be in PDF format
