SAFE VOICES FOR CIVIC ACCOUNTABILITY PROJECT
Are you a young civic actor in Kano State passionate about advocacy, accountability, digital rights, freedom of expression or civic participation?
Smart Aid Initiative is inviting eligible young people in Kano State to apply for a Two-Day Civic Space Resilience and Advocacy Training under the Safe Voices for Civic Accountability Project.
ABOUT THE TRAINING
The training is designed to strengthen the capacity of young civic actors to safely exercise and defend freedom of expression and peaceful association.
The programme will provide participants with knowledge and skills that can support safer and more effective civic engagement, advocacy and accountability activities, particularly in the period leading up to the 2027 general elections.
WHO CAN APPLY?
The opportunity is open to young people from Kano State who are actively involved in civic engagement, advocacy, media, digital rights, community development or accountability.
Eligible applicants include:
- Gen Z activists
- Representatives of youth-led organisations
- Young journalists and content creators
- Community-Based Organisation CBO leaders
- Digital rights and digital advocates
- Human rights advocates
- Accountability advocates
WHY APPLY?
Participants will have an opportunity to strengthen their understanding and capacity around civic space resilience, advocacy and safe civic participation.
The training is particularly relevant for young people who want to contribute to stronger civic engagement while promoting freedom of expression and peaceful association.

Applicants must be young people from Kano State who fall within one or more of the listed civic engagement categories.
