Apply Now: Be a 2025 Mandela Washington Fellowship Application Reader!
IREX is seeking academic, professional, and regional experts to read and score applications for the 2025 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders is the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). The Fellowship brings young leaders to the United States for academic coursework and leadership training to create unique opportunities for Fellows and U.S. citizens to collaborate, spur economic growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa and the United States. In summer 2025, the Fellowship will bring up to 700 young leaders to the United States for a comprehensive executive-style program designed to build skills and empower Fellows to lead in their respective sectors and communities.
Over the past ten years of the Fellowship, we received nearly 434,000 applications from 49 sub-Saharan African countries for approximately 7,200 Fellow slots. Your help in recruiting qualified application readers will be greatly appreciated. Please help us spread the word by reaching out to academic and professional experts within your community and network who you think would be a good fit for the opportunity.
Interested applicants may apply by completing the Reader Application Form as soon as possible, and no later than September 1, 2024. We will reach out to selected Readers before the Fellowship application closes in mid-September 2024.
