What is the Regional Youth Parliament on Climate Action (RYPCA)?
The Regional Youth Parliament on Climate Action (RYPCA) will:
- Empower young people in the Asia-Pacific region to meaningfully engage in climate governance.
- Provide a platform for young leaders to influence national and regional climate policies by participating, lobbing, and advising in political processes.
- Enhance youth roles in formulating and implementing climate strategies and fosters peer-to-peer exchanges and capacity building.
What to expect?
For an initial duration of 12-18 months, 15 youths between the ages of 18-35 will:
- Influence decision-making processes and address their underrepresentation in climate policies such as NAPs and NDCs.
- Participate in peer-to-peer learning, networking, and collaboration opportunities.
- Be equipped with the skills needed for climate negotiations.
Who can apply?
- Members of diverse governmental and legislative bodies with a proven track record in climate legislation are invited to apply.
- The RYPCA seeks gender and geographical balance, with applicants from North East Asia, South East Asia, South Asia, and the Pacific.
- Applications from marginalized groups, including women, Indigenous youth, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable communities, are encouraged.
