Africa Research Excellence Fund (AREF) is inviting applications for its prestigious 2026/27 Research Development Fellowship Programme, designed to support emerging African researchers working on critical human health challenges.
This highly competitive fellowship aims to strengthen the capacity of early-career researchers by providing international exposure, advanced training, and mentorship opportunities at leading research institutions.
💡 Fellowship Highlights:
- 3–9 month placement in top research institutions across the UK, Europe, or Africa
- Financial support of up to £47,000
- Additional pre- and post-placement support at the fellow’s home institution

🎯 Eligibility Criteria:
- Early-career researchers (post-doctoral scientists or clinicians)
- Must be nationals of and employed in an African country
- Possess higher academic or professional qualifications
- Actively engaged in research addressing important human health challenges
