About the Role

Tech Policy Advisory is seeking a qualified and experienced Sociologist / Social Researcher to support a three-month research study focused on Child Online Privacy Protection. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about child rights, digital safety, and evidence-based policy development in cities like Abuja.

The selected candidate will play a key role in strengthening the quality and integrity of the research by ensuring that all tools and methodologies are robust, ethical, and contextually appropriate. Abuja offers a unique perspective for this work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and provide expert input on research instruments, including questionnaires, surveys, and interview guides
  • Ensure research tools are methodologically sound, child-sensitive, and aligned with ethical research standards
  • Assess cultural relevance and appropriateness of data collection tools within the Nigerian context
  • Provide recommendations to improve clarity, inclusiveness, and effectiveness of research instruments
  • Support the integration of safeguarding principles when engaging with children and vulnerable populations
  • Collaborate with the research team to refine tools for accurate and reliable data collection
  • Contribute to ensuring that findings generated are credible, actionable, and policy-relevant

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sociology, Social Research, Anthropology, Public Policy, or a related field
  • Proven experience in social research, qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies
  • Strong background in reviewing and designing research tools
  • Familiarity with ethical considerations in research involving children

Desirable Experience

Candidates with experience in the following areas will have an added advantage:

  • Child-focused or youth-centered research, particularly in Abuja and similar urban contexts.
  • Online safety, digital behavior, or data privacy
  • Child protection and safeguarding frameworks
  • Behavioral or social impact studies
  • Policy-oriented research or advisory work
