Job Summary:

The position involves assist the Community Engagement Officers to collaborate with communities, ensuring that the project is effectively implemented on schedule and to maximum benefit for residents, in tune with their needs and preferences. You will support the implementation of the Area Based Approach project, including the establishment and oversight of community-based feedback and complaint mechanisms, mobilizing local communities, and organizing community engagement sessions.

The office holder will also be working with our partner (Hallmark Leadership Initiative), in project location

Roles and Responsibilities:

Design, plan, execute, and monitor neighborhood-based activities, ensuring that communities are able to freely and safely voice their needs and preferences.

Plan and carry out community mobilization, awareness creation, and information dissemination activities.

Planning, organizing and implementing capacity building trainings at the community level.

Complete weekly reports on project activities, including good quality activity photos, documentation of feedback from community engagement sessions, and the proactive sharing of lessons learned.

Keeping records of all community-based activities

Coordinate referral pathways between consortium partners, ensuring targeted assistance is provided to extremely vulnerable individuals.

Provide direct program support to the project team including copying, dissemination of information education and communication materials.

Collect information, compile data, produce reports, and organize files as requested by Program Officer.

Contribute to the carrying out of formative research, baseline assessments, and community mapping, including development of evaluation protocols, tools, training, data collection.

Contribute to development of detailed implementation plans, work plans and budgets

Develop terms of reference, budgets and seek approval for upcoming activities

Facilitate and maintain relationship with community leaders, community members and structures such as core groups and community focal persons;

Coordinate recruitment of community volunteers and facilitators in consultation with community leaders and LGA partners

Prepare required periodic report for community mobilization activities.

Undertake field visits to partners and facilitators to oversee implementation, including provision of on-site feedback and supportive supervision on required improvements, and generate field visit reports with timely and appropriate follow-up on action points.

Lead training of community volunteers and other relevant community partners, and ongoing capacity strengthening through mentoring and supportive supervision and encourage the development of peer networks and learning opportunities, including through review meetings.

Ensure that Cedar Foundation for Disability’s and partner’s work is coordinated with other agencies and the Government’s efforts and support Interagency Coordination forums, advocating for the specific needs of persons with disabilities, women, children and youths.

Contribute to communications and media work as required through collection of data and information and sharing with the team leads;

In cooperation with the MEAL Team, support data quality assessments and support community volunteers to effectively document and report community mobilization activities using appropriate tools.

And all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:

Minimum of a OND or its equivalent in Social or Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, Education, Nutrition, Communications, Public Relations, or related fields.

Minimum of two (2) years specific professional experience working in the area of disability inclusion, GBV programming is an advantage

Strong knowledge on safeguarding of children and adults-at-risk;

Excellent writing skills and an ability to communicate clearly and respectfully 

Fluency in oral and written communication skills; particularly in English language is a must.

Understanding of local language and context is a must.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft office and other relevant project software.
