Applications Now Open for Emerging Leaders Worldwide

The Fortis Society invites applications for its 2027 Fellowship Cohort, a five-month leadership development programme for ambitious individuals from humble beginnings who want to make a significant, positive impact in their communities, professions and the world.

The fellowship connects emerging leaders with mentors, professional development opportunities and a global network of people committed to helping one another succeed and create meaningful change.

LOCATION

Online fellowship activities, followed by in-person cohort programming and the Fortis Summit in Medellín, Colombia, in June 2027.

DURATION

Five months, from January to June 2027.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

8 November 2026.

WHO CAN APPLY?

The fellowship is open to applicants worldwide who come from humble beginnings and demonstrate the ambition to create positive change.

Applicants from all professional sectors and career stages are welcome. The programme particularly seeks individuals who have built their own paths despite limited resources and who are committed to helping others.

A university degree, nomination or institutional endorsement is not required.

WHAT DOES THE FELLOWSHIP OFFER?

1. Mentorship from an existing Fortis Society member.
2. Professional learning workshops and leadership development.
3. Peer support and relationship-building with an international cohort.
4. Opportunities to exchange ideas, knowledge and professional connections across sectors.
5. Two days of dedicated cohort programming in Medellín, followed by the Fortis Summit in June 2027.
6. Lifelong membership in the Fortis Society after successful completion of the fellowship.

FUNDING

There is no application fee or fellowship participation fee. Cohort programming and the Fortis Summit are funded for selected fellows. Applicants should consult the official website for the precise arrangements covering travel and other expenses.

WHAT DOES THE SELECTION COMMITTEE LOOK FOR?

Applications are assessed against four main pillars.

1. Humble beginnings: Your background and the challenges you have overcome.
2. Altruistic focus: How your work or activities improve other people’s lives.
3. Ambition at scale: The change you want to create and the steps you have already taken.
4. Generosity: Your willingness to share knowledge, opportunities and support with others.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should prepare the following:

1. A résumé or portfolio demonstrating their work and achievements.
2. Three short written responses about their background and future ambitions.
3. A two-minute introduction video recorded using a phone or computer.
4. Availability for a virtual interview if shortlisted.

Most applicants spend approximately two to three hours completing the application.

IMPORTANT DATES

Application deadline: 8 November 2026.

Interviews: November to December 2026.

Membership decisions: By the end of January 2027.

Fellowship and Summit: January to June 2027, with the in-person gathering in Medellín in June.
