JOB OVERVIEW

The Project Assistant DTM will provide administrative, operational and overall project support for the implementation of the Displacement Tracking Matrix DTM project in Nigeria.

Working under the overall and direct supervision of the DTM Programme Officer and in close coordination with the DTM Senior Programme Associate, the successful candidate will support project implementation, monitoring, reporting, administration, coordination and documentation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist with the implementation and monitoring of DTM project activities.
  2. Retrieve, compile, summarize and present project-related information and data.
  3. Monitor budgets, verify availability of funds and support necessary approvals and budget updates.
  4. Provide administrative coordination for project implementation.
  5. Liaise with internal departments, government authorities and external partners to initiate requests, obtain clearances and follow up on administrative actions.
  6. Draft status reports and identify implementation gaps or delays for the attention of the supervisor.
  7. Prepare correspondence, reports, briefing notes, presentations, graphics, statistical tables and other project documentation.
  8. Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions.
  9. Respond to general information requests and enquiries.
  10. Establish and maintain project files, records and documentation.
  11. Support effective coordination with government counterparts, humanitarian partners, NGOs, UN agencies and other stakeholders.
  12. Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should have:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field.

OR

  1. A Diploma in a relevant discipline with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  2. At least 4 years of demonstrable experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups.
  3. At least 4 years of relevant experience using statistical tools, preparing reports and liaising with government authorities, preferably within the international humanitarian sector.
  4. At least 4 years of experience working in humanitarian emergencies.
  5. At least 4 years of professional experience in West Africa.
  6. Experience working with international humanitarian organizations, government institutions, NGOs or other development organizations is an advantage.
  7. Experience working in multicultural environments.
  8. Knowledge of migration-related issues and humanitarian programming.
  9. Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming is desirable.
  10. Knowledge of financial rules and regulations and IPSAS is an advantage.
  11. Strong logistics and project coordination skills.
  12. Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills.
  13. Ability to work independently, multitask and prioritize competing responsibilities.
  14. Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality.
  15. Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  16. Ability to work effectively with government counterparts and stakeholders at different levels.
  17. Ability to collect, analyze and maintain statistical information and project records accurately.
  18. Ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  19. Knowledge of local languages spoken across the North-West, North-East and North-Central regions is an advantage.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Fluent English is essential.

Knowledge of one or more relevant local languages is desirable.
