ABOUT THE ROLE
International Medical Corps is seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the position of Officer, Logistics in Damboa, Borno State.
The Logistics Officer will provide logistics services and operational support in accordance with International Medical Corps policies and procedures, donor requirements and host-country regulations.
The position supports field-level logistics activities including office management, procurement support, fleet management, asset management, basic IT support and logistics reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
OFFICE MANAGEMENT
- Serve as the focal point for daily office logistics activities and follow-up.
- Support procurement requests and collection of offers for office operations, including maintenance, fuel, cleaning and office supplies.
- Track contracts and orders and coordinate timely renewals with the procurement department.
- Manage office supply stocks and prepare relevant reports.
- Liaise with facility owners regarding maintenance and space improvements.
- Ensure the office is properly maintained.
- Ensure required office safety equipment is available in collaboration with the Safety and Security Manager.
FLEET MANAGEMENT
- Assist in compiling weekly movement schedules from departments.
- Plan weekly movements and assign drivers accordingly.
- Closely monitor daily trips and ensure timely refuelling of vehicles and generators.
- Support driver orientation and safety and security briefings.
IT SUPPORT
The Logistics Officer may provide basic support to the IT department, including:
- Setting up accounts for new users.
- Basic troubleshooting.
- Connecting devices.
LOGISTICS REPORTING
- Assist in preparing logistics reports as assigned by the manager.
ASSET MANAGEMENT
The Officer may also serve as an Asset Focal Point and will be responsible for:
- Implementing International Medical Corps asset management policies and procedures.
- Ensuring all assets and attractive items are properly recorded, assigned unique asset IDs and allocated to active staff custodians.
- Maintaining accurate records of asset transactions and status changes.
- Supporting monthly asset reconciliation and ensuring financial information is accurately recorded.
- Coordinating documented handovers between custodians.
- Updating asset lists and reporting missing or lost items to management.
- Initiating asset maintenance, repair, appraisal and disposal requests where required.
- Supporting spot checks and full inventory exercises.
- Reviewing documentation for insurance claims and ensuring required supporting documents are available.
- Supporting the Asset Department when assigned.
FRAUD PREVENTION AND COMPLIANCE
The successful candidate will be expected to support fraud prevention, detection, reporting and risk reduction in accordance with International Medical Corps policies, donor requirements and applicable laws.
The role also requires accurate filing and maintenance of auditable procurement records, reports and trackers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management or a related field.
- An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
- At least 3 years of relevant logistics experience.
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Ability to work effectively within multi-ethnic and multicultural teams.
- Ability to work in challenging conditions, including remote locations.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Relevant professional qualifications or training will be an advantage.
