ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development CJID, through its Media in National Election MiNE project, is recruiting Data Enumerators across the senatorial districts in Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
The selected enumerators will support the deployment of a national survey designed to gather information from Nigerian citizens ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The survey will provide data on public opinion, electoral attitudes, democratic trust, governance performance and voting behaviour among Nigerian citizens.
This opportunity is suitable for individuals with an interest in field research, data collection, surveys, civic issues and community engagement who can conduct face-to-face data collection within their assigned locations.
SURVEY FOCUS
The national survey will seek to assess citizens’ views and experiences across several areas, including:
- PUBLIC OPINION
The survey will collect information on the views and perceptions of Nigerian citizens on issues relevant to governance and democratic participation.
- ELECTORAL ATTITUDES
Enumerators will support the collection of information relating to citizens’ attitudes towards elections and electoral processes.
- DEMOCRATIC TRUST
The research will examine levels of public trust and perceptions relating to democratic institutions and processes.
- GOVERNANCE PERFORMANCE
The survey will gather citizens’ perceptions and experiences regarding governance and the performance of public institutions.
- VOTING BEHAVIOUR
The research will examine citizens’ reported voting attitudes and behaviour ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
WHO CAN APPLY
The call is open to individuals interested in participating as Data Enumerators for the national survey.
Applicants should have the ability to work within their local communities and collect survey data accurately and professionally.
IMPORTANT LOCATION REQUIREMENT
Applicants MUST reside in one of the three senatorial districts in the state from which they are applying.
Applicants should therefore select a state where they currently reside and be able to work within the relevant senatorial district.

KEY EXPECTATIONS
Selected Data Enumerators will be expected to support the successful implementation of the survey within their assigned areas.
This includes carrying out survey activities in accordance with the approved research methodology and instructions provided by the project team.
Enumerators should be prepared to:
- Participate in any required training or briefing before field deployment.
- Understand the survey objectives, questionnaire and data collection procedures.
- Conduct data collection among eligible respondents within their assigned locations.
- Follow the approved survey methodology and fieldwork instructions.
- Collect information accurately and consistently.
- Engage respondents respectfully and professionally.
- Maintain confidentiality of information collected during the survey.
- Ensure that submitted survey responses are complete and accurate.
- Observe all research and ethical requirements communicated by the project team.
- Report field challenges or issues encountered during data collection.
- Meet assigned fieldwork schedules and targets.
- Use the designated data collection tools or platforms as instructed.
WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY MATTERS
Reliable public opinion data can provide useful evidence for understanding how citizens perceive elections, democratic institutions, governance and political participation.
Through the MiNE project, CJID is seeking to collect information from citizens across Nigeria’s diverse geographical and demographic contexts.
The participation of enumerators from different senatorial districts will support the geographical reach of the national survey and help ensure that data is collected directly from communities across the country.
Applicants who are familiar with their communities and local environments can contribute to the effective implementation of field research within their areas.
FIELDWORK CONSIDERATIONS
Applicants should be prepared for field-based data collection within their selected senatorial district.
Because the survey is intended to provide national representation, enumerators are expected to follow the project’s sampling, respondent-selection and data-collection procedures rather than selectively choosing respondents.
Accuracy, neutrality, confidentiality and professionalism will be important throughout the assignment.
Enumerators should also be able to communicate effectively with respondents and follow instructions from the project team.
