ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The Zamfara PWD Advocacy & Civic Education Project Z-PACE, with support from NYFF, is organizing a two-day capacity-building programme designed to empower young persons with disabilities in Zamfara State with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to participate meaningfully in civic and democratic processes.

The programme will bring together 30 young persons with disabilities for practical learning, discussions, and capacity building focused on disability rights, civic participation, electoral processes, and inclusive elections.

KEY AREAS OF FOCUS

  1. Disability Rights

Participants will strengthen their understanding of the rights of persons with disabilities and how to advocate for equal access, inclusion, dignity, and participation in society.

  1. Civic Participation

The programme will promote active citizenship and help participants understand how young persons with disabilities can contribute to community development and decision-making processes.

  1. Electoral Process

Participants will gain a better understanding of the electoral process, including the importance of informed participation and exercising their civic rights.

  1. PVC Readiness

The training will support participants with relevant knowledge about Permanent Voter’s Cards PVCs and the importance of being prepared to participate in elections.

  1. Inclusive Elections

The programme will highlight the importance of removing barriers that prevent persons with disabilities from participating fully and equally in electoral processes.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Young persons with disabilities who are residents of Zamfara State and are interested in disability rights, civic engagement, democratic participation, and inclusive elections are encouraged to apply.

Participants will have the opportunity to build their knowledge of disability rights and civic processes, strengthen their advocacy skills, connect with other young persons with disabilities, and gain practical knowledge that can support greater participation in community and electoral activities.
